Adham Al-Arar

I build web systems end to end: camera-driven interfaces, the services behind them, and the Docker and CI that get them running.

A stick figure of joint landmarks, of the kind pose detection reads out of a camera frame.

I like making computers notice people.

I study applied computer science at HTW Berlin, and most of what I have built sits somewhere between a camera and a database. My last project read body positions and gestures from a webcam; my internship before that was the other end of the same problem — containers, reverse proxies and CI, so that something built in a seminar can actually survive being deployed. I am drawn to digital assistance systems and to the point where a person and a machine have to understand each other.

What I have built so far

2026

Team project, HTW Berlin

Body Explorer

A digital learning and assistance system: a web prototype that recognises body parts and gestures through an ordinary webcam. I worked on the layered architecture that carries camera input through perception and interpretation up to the interface — the interesting part was deciding what counts as a gesture and what is just a person moving. Organised in the team with GitHub and Kanban, where I also worked on integration and project management.

JavaScript, HTML/CSS, MediaPipe Pose, Face and Hands, Webcam APIs

2023

University project

Sustainability Map Berlin

A website with an interactive map of sustainable places across Berlin, with role-based permissions so different users can add and manage locations rather than everyone editing everything.

HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, MongoDB

2022

University project

Book Collection CLI

A Java command-line tool for managing book collections, built on a linked list with custom sorting — the project where data structures stopped being an exam topic and became something I had to make behave.

Java, Comparator interface, data structures and algorithms

Where I have worked

02/2026 — 05/2026

Intern, system integration

Built and tested a secured Supabase Studio environment on Cloudron, running in Docker behind an Nginx reverse proxy. Worked with PostgreSQL, Redis, Django, Linux and GitLab CI/CD on internal web and backend systems, analysed logs and performance problems, and wrote the deployment configuration and the technical documentation that went with it.
